Platform Tennis - usually referred to as Paddle - is an American racquet sport which is played outdoors primarily during the fall , winter, and early spring. It provides an invigorating workout in the fresh air during the cold weather months. The game is played on an elevated court 1/4 the size of a tennis court surrounded by wire screens. The main difference from tennis is that balls may be played off the screens as in squash or racquetball and only one serve is allowed. The game is played with paddles about 18 inches long and a spongy rubber ball. Most play is doubles and there is a lot of social interaction as players are close to each other. We have three paddle courts with lights. Underneath the courts are heaters to melt off snow and ice. After a spirited game of paddle, players may socialize in the warmth of our renovated lounge which looks out on the paddle courts. There are locker rooms and showers in the clubhouse for those who wish to change. We have men's, women's, and mixed paddle leagues which run from October to mid-May. You may also form your own group and book a season court at the same time each week. Balls are supplied by the club for season courts and leagues. Open court time is available for members and non-members Court Rates 2011-2012 We also offer paddle instruction by our pros. Paddle Instruction |
